About

Shane grew up in the plains of north central Kansas where shooting was just a part of life. After stretching the limits of his AR15 decided it was time to move on to bigger caliber bolt guns which started a whole new addiction. Since then he has been a shooting nomad by participating in many various matches across the US put on by various leagues. By participating in everything from monthly NRL22 matches to National multi day centerfire matches and recently starting in ELR it has allowed him to be well rounded and able to feel at home anywhere there are rifles nearby. He can usually be found at events if one notices the group that’s laughing loudly because he has made it his mission to highlight the fun and happy side of shooting sports.

What led you to competitive shooting?

The pursuit of learning more about the capabilities of myself and different equipment. I also enjoy going to all the events around our great country meeting like minded people who like to do the same.

What are your favorite calibers to compete with?

22lr events are a blast and what I have been doing the majority of this year but love taking my 6GT and 6.5 Creedmoors to centerfire events. I’ve also started attending some ELR events with a 300PRC.

What is your go to Bergara model for matches?

For NRL22X events my B14r is my rock! Ive got well over 20k rounds on it and its amazing! For Centerfire I was fortunate enough to raid the parts bin before all the shortages and built a custom 6GT using all Bergara Parts. I also use the new Bergara Premier Comp rifle.

What is the number one piece of advice you would share with a new shooter?

Get out and shoot, find a mentor and be willing to take those lumps because afterwards comes knowledge! I still get those lessons regularly myself!

What two pieces of gear, other than your rifle, are most important at matches?

My Kestrel and a great support bag like a Tator Tot, Fortune Cookie, or Gamechanger.

What is your favorite part about representing Bergara?

By far it’s meeting all the fellow Bergara shooters at different events. Being able to help them out by offering some tips, just hanging out, or even fixing a rifle is great. I love like minded people and tend to have a good time wherever I go!
