Lewis Macfarlane grew up in a rural farming village in the north Cumbria where his love of field sports began. In farming and agricultural communities, it’s not so much a sport but a way of life, playing a vital role in ensuring livestock and crop can thrive by balancing the management of vermin without overkill to ensure a perfectly balanced ecosystem.

By the age of 14 Lewis was spending all his free time working at a game shooting estate in the heart of Cumbria, during this time the head gamekeeper taught Lewis about game bird and deer management and he assisted with client stalks and extraction.

At the age of 16 Lewis joined the British Army where he served for many years both at home and abroad on military deployments. During his time in the military, Lewis participated in many shooting competitions winning multiple medals from long range precision rifle shooting to falling plate and pistol competitions.

After leaving the military he continued with his studies into wildlife and game management completing his DSC 1 & 2 leading into contract work and looking after deer management for forestry companies, successfully managing several Deer Syndicates for recreational stalkers and managing vermin on several local farms and introducing mini rifle at his local club in the United Kingdom.

With over 27 years of experience and working in many different areas of the firearms community both independently and part of a management team alongside Lewis’s knowledge of and dedication to the firearms industry, field sports, wildlife management and conservation we are excited to bring Lewis on as a member of our Bergara Pro Team family, where we welcome his experience and commitment to support the Bergara brand and Bergara shooters of all disciplines in the United Kingdom.
